About Mona Ramamurthy

Mona Ramamurthy is a successful employment law professional with over fifteen years of work experience in various leadership roles. From Human Resources to Management, Mona has proven time and again that she is a capable individual who is attentive to detail, can lead others with ease, and problem solve effortlessly. She is presently a People Consultant Manager for Cloud employees at Google, where she has worked for several years.

Located in Los Altos, CA, Mona Ramamurthy was quick to pursue her higher education upon graduating from high school. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1999. She then decided to stay with the University of California for her graduate studies, this time focusing on legalities. She studied with the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law and received her Juris Doctor in 2003. Mona specifically focused on employment law while studying for her law degree—this degree and focus later became useful in several of her professional positions.

Mona Ramamurthy currently leads a People Operations team at Google, which supports 10,000 Google Cloud employees. Her previous positions with Google include being a People Partner with gTech Professional Services (gPS) and a Manager with the gTech Learning & Development (L&D) team. These leadership positions gave Mona the opportunity to stretch her leadership skills in a way that positively impacted the organization at large: with the L&D team, she and her people were responsible for multiple global programs for over 5,000 gTech employees, while her time with gPS had Mona coaching and advising VPs and other senior leaders throughout the organization on a wide range of people priorities and personnel situations.

Prior to her work with Google, Mona Ramamurthy was a Human Resources Business Partner leader at Symantec Corporation who supported the CFO, CIO, General Counsel, the CHRO, and their organizations on a wide range of Human Resources strategies. Her prior experience and educational background gave Mona the foundation for developing a range of Human Resources initiatives for the IT, Legal, HR, Finance, and Security organizations—over 2,500 employees globally. She also headed the Human Resources & Employment Counsel department with a biotechnology startup and quadrupled the size of the company in her years there. Mona additionally grew the Human Resources team from four individuals to over thirty qualified people, all of whom were equally dedicated to helping the startup business grow and succeed just as the executive leadership team Mona hired.

Mona Ramamurthy is deeply committed to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). She believes that DEI is a core value and contributor to any company’s organizational successes; companies that aim for a distributing working environment can expand their hiring options and, due to that, have a more representative workforce. Each company’s leadership teams have to determine how to create an inclusive and equitable culture for their work culture, especially since many companies have gone virtual and have remote employees to consider.

Additionally, Mona Ramamurthy believes each leadership team needs to create and foster a positive and conductive company and team culture. Remote work has made work culture especially important: how will teams and companies maintain a strong sense of culture in a virtual and more distributed working environment? With more isolated employees and much less interaction, building this culture is essential so that employees can build deeper connections with their colleagues. Each team and company should ensure that all employees feel a sense of belonging in their workplace, and Mona Ramamurthy believes that fostering such a culture should be a priority for most, if not all, businesses to consider.
